NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS
Yearbooks can ONLY BE ORDERED THROUGH JOSTENS THIS YEAR!!! There will be NO orders taken at the high school. Jostens will be doing three mailings to all parents of high school students with the exact instructions for this process. The good news is that you can now order with a credit card and parents can do it so that they know it has been done!
Dear Parents,
Congratulations, your child is about to begin an exciting and sometimes confusing year. It is our hope that we can answer some of your questions and make this year as easy for you as it can be!
Each senior received a packet of information today which includes: an end of the year calendar *, yearbook deadlines and instructions, a senior superlative ballot, and two copies of their Senior Agreements. What are they all for and what should be done with them?
1. The calendar is for your planning and information. It will be posted on the SAD 9 web site also and if there are changes, they too will be placed on the Web Site. Please note that Graduation is set by the School Committee. The Senior Class has petitioned for different times of day and even moving the event to Saturday in the past.
2. Yearbook deadlines are firm and help us to keep the cost of the book down. Please encourage your child to meet them all and follow instructions carefully. Please have them see me in Room 309 if they have ANY questions.
3. The Senior Superlative Ballot is to be used in order to set up the Superlatives for the Yearbook! This ballot will be counted and the top three vote getters in each category will be placed on a final ballot for a run off election in October at the Senior Class Meeting. There will be a Timaron Night in early November to announce the winners. You are invited to attend this important fund raiser for the yearbook. It is always a fun night filled with good times and laughter.
4. Please read the Senior Agreements with your child. This paper informs them of some of their rights and responsibilities as a senior. It also informs the student of what is and is not guaranteed as far as their yearbooks go! Please sign the orange copy and return it to the Main Office or Room 309 ASAP.
We are planning a parent information night at 6:30 PM, on Thursday, September 16th. At that time, we will answer any questions that you might have about this packet and plans for all school sponsored Graduation Activities except Project Graduation. Your child’s Class Advisors, Jake Bogar and Lisa Dalrymple are in charge of that and will be working closely with the Graduation Committee on Graduation Week as well. Also this meeting was a catalyst the past two years for a parent sponsored cookout for the seniors on Thursday night of graduation week. This meeting gives parents a chance to gauge interest and start planning this fun evening. We encourage parents to become involved in these events.
Saturday, November 20th will be the Annual Mt. Blue Craft Fair which is an important fund raiser for the class. Parents will be calling you for donations of food and money for the kitchen that day.
Yearbooks will be ordered directly through Jostens this year. They will send out three mailings to every students in the school. It is vital for the school to have your correct mailing address for this. Please be certain that you student’s emergency card was returned to the school. Thank you very much.
Please send in photos of your child in his/her younger years to Mrs. Hersey in Room 309. We are looking for a lot of photos, especially of groups. Mrs. Hersey and the Yearbook Class are compiling a slide show to show at Awards Night. It is our goal to have every student represented. Every effort will be made to return these. In 2004, we had over 350 photos in the show!
Sincerely,
Kathryn Mills Woodsum, Therese M. Hersey, Patti M. Millette
The Graduation Committee
*Please note that the Mandatory Class Meeting on May 27 is at 9:20 in the Auditorium. We will be passing out caps and gowns and collecting payment on that day. Please make checks payable to The MBHS Graduation Committee. (We will let you know the cost when the seniors decide the style of their gowns. It should be $25.00 or less.)
Please sign one copy and pass it into the Main Office, your advisor, or Rm. 309 by 2 PM on September 10th. Keep the other copy for your records.
As a member of the Senior Class I agree to the following:
Yearbook (Room 309):
Things I need to pass in on or before 2 PM the second Friday of October (10-8-04):
v A color photo that is exactly 2 ¼ X 3 ¼ inches and is in the vertical position with no white edges.
v A second photo for next to my write-up. (no particular size)
v A paper copy and a disk (SAVED AS A WORD DOCUMENT) of my write-up.
v THESE ITEMS MUST ALL BE LABELED WITH MY NAME
How do I write my write-up???
1. My name must be included on the write-up, written in Caps and Lower Case. (First letter Caps and rest lower case.)
2. The entire write-up must be saved in Microsoft Office as a Word Document.
3. Allow the text to wrap itself…do NOT hit the Return at the end of lines.
4. All material must be appropriate, or it will be deleted.
5. Only 300 characters are allowed in the write-up. This includes spaces, periods, nicknames, etc. There is a form at the bottom of this page for you to use for a rough draft of the write-up.
I realize that:
1. This is a student run publication, and mistakes do happen. They are not intentional.
2. Jostens does not guarantee that the name on the front of the book will be spelled correctly.
3. If I miss a deadline, my items will not be in the book.
4. If I do not preorder a book directly from Jostens, there may not be one for me in June.
5. If the disk can not be opened, my write-up may not be in the book.
